When should I bring in an advisor before taking my business to market?
I may sell part or all of our family business, but I am not sure whether to speak with advisors now or wait until a buyer appears. At what point does professional support become useful instead of premature?

Earlier is better if the owner is not sure how buyers will read the numbers. A good advisor can help clean the story before weak points become negotiation pressure.
Bring the accountant early if financials need cleaning. Once buyers see confusing numbers, the seller spends the rest of the process defending them.
Legal review before marketing can prevent delays. Check ownership, leases, contracts, employment issues, and any restrictions on transfer.
